Halifax Shopping Centre and Annex, the largest shopping destination in Halifax, The annex a recent addition to the mall, makes it the biggest shopping attraction in the Maritimes. With over 60 stores including Walmart ,Sobeys and Sears you can shop 'til you drop and also stop for a bite to eat at the food court.

Leave the car with us and use Metro transit, located directly opposite with easy access to downtown.

We are a stroll away from.....

Mount Olivet Cemetery. A few minutes away from our Bed & Breakfast. There are 19 victims of the Titanic disaster interred in this Catholic Cemetery, Including John Frederick Preston Clarke, originally from Liverpool U.K. the bass player in the band. The gravestones, made of plain granite rock were erected in 1912 and were paid for by the White Star Line. Mount Olivet is one of the three historic gravesites in Halifax.

The Magnificent view of the Northwest Arm, take a walk down to The Arm with your camera for a photo opportunity. A popular spot for generations of Haligonians, it's sheltered waters an ideal setting for regattas and races, home to two of our yacht clubs, including North Americas oldest The Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron. Also linked to the birthplace of ice hockey which was a popular pastime in the winter for members of the military and Irish immigrants, between 1800-1850, when the Northwest Arm froze in the winter.

Leave the car with us and take a walking tour of Halifax, a vibrant city set in a rich historic background from the star shaped Citadel, The Historic British Fortress at the heart of the city, (don't miss the firing of the noon gun, a daily ritual since the mid-19th century) to the modern office towers that overlook Halifax Harbour. On the waterfront is Canada's oldest waterfront buildings, Historic properties, with its unique collection of shops. Take a pub tour, or sample some of our many restaurants. Discover some of our maritime history at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, where you can see the artifacts from The Titanic, or learn about the Halifax Explosion of 1917. Stroll around Spring Garden Road and the Victorian Public Gardens, or walk through Canada's "front door" at Pier 21 National Historic site of Canada.

An easy car ride.....

Take Purcells Cove Road drive 10 mins to Sir Sandford Flemming Park commemorates a notable Canadian Sir Sandford Flemming. The "Father of standard time", and he designed Canada's first postage stamp. Flemming established a summer retreat known as the Dingle in the 1880's. He offered 95 acres of land at The Dingle as a park in 1908 for the people of Halifax, and constructed The Dingle Tower, to commemorate 150 years of representative government in Nova Scotia. The 10 storey tower is open to the public and offers spectacular views of the Northwest Arm.

Continue along Purcells Cove Rd to discover Frog pond. Walk the trail around Frog pond, rich in aquatic life, and home to ducks, loons and heron also another photo opportunity to see Beaver feeding at dusk.

15 mins along the Purcells Cove Road you reach York Redoubt National Historic Site. Built on the clifftop overlooking the harbour approaches some 200 years ago, visitors can wander the grounds, amidst the fortifications and enjoy panoramic views of the harbour and the Atlantic Ocean.

Within an hours drive.....

You can travel to the fishing village of Peggy’s Cove. It was here that six families settled in 1811, and a small fishing community was born, it is now a conservation area and the way of life remains much as it did 200 years ago. It's picture postcard beauty makes it the most photographed lighthouse in the world.

Visit the South Shore towns, including the Unesco World Heritage site of Lunenburg the home of Canadas most famous tall ship the Bluenose II. Mahone Bay is well worth a visit, as is Chester for it's range of antique shops.
